Authentication Bypass Techniques
Login Bypass
- SQL injection in login:

Password Reset Flows
- Token prediction: sequential reset tokens, timestamp-based, email-dependent
- Token leakage: token in URL (
?reset_token=), referer header, HTTP referer to external resources - Token reuse: used token still valid, no expiry on reset token
- Host header injection: password reset link with attacker's domain (
Host: attacker.com) - User enumeration: differing responses for valid/invalid email during reset
OAuth 2.0 and SSO Attacks
- Redirect URI bypass: open redirect in redirect_uri parameter, path traversal in registered URI
- CSRF in OAuth flow:
stateparameter missing or predictable, reuse of auth codes - Token swap: authorization code from one client used by another (audience validation missing)
- Scope escalation: modify
scopeparameter during authorization request for elevated privileges - IdP confusion: trick application into accepting token from attacker-controlled identity provider
- JWT confusion: public key for HMAC, accept unsigned tokens, use expired tokens
