Data Retention

  • Define retention periods per data category in a retention schedule
  • Automated deletion: scheduled job to delete/anonymize expired records
  • Deletion log: record of what was deleted, when, and under what policy
  • Legal hold: exemption mechanism for data under litigation or investigation

Breach Notification

  1. Detection: alerting systems, employee report, automated monitoring
  2. Assessment: determine scope, affected data subjects, risk level
  3. Containment: isolate affected system, preserve logs, disable compromised accounts
